It is reported that there are currently 14 automobile production enterprises in Chongqing, including Changan Ford, Changan Co., Ltd., Changan Suzuki, Dongfeng Xiaokang, BAIC Yinxiang, Huachen Xinyuan, SAIC General Motors Wuling, SAIC Iveco Hongyan, Qingling, Lifan Automobile, and 18 specialized vehicle production enterprises such as Jinguan, Dima, and Dajiang, which have formed a comprehensive production capacity of 4 million vehicles per year. This year, it is expected that the production of automobiles will reach 2.62 million units, a year-on-year increase of 220%, which is 15 percentage points higher than the national average. There are nearly a thousand large-scale automobile parts enterprises in the city, which have a complete supply system for various major assemblies such as engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, axles, interior systems, air conditioning, etc., with a local matching rate of over 70% for automobile parts. It is expected that the city will have a production capacity of 4 million vehicles next year, with over 3 million vehicles produced and sold, and an output value of over 460 billion yuan in the automotive manufacturing industry.

The rapid growth of Chongqing's automobile industry is inseparable from the driving role of Chang'an Automobile. From January to November, Changan Automobile sold 2.34 million vehicles, of which the independent sector achieved counter trend growth with its own strength.
